Saturday 31 August

An enjoyable day.

On Friday evening, we'd decided to do a half day trip to the GC.

Quick visit to the Gold Coast. Mags had a run and a swim. Phoebe and I walked, splashed, coffee'd, breakied.

Congratulated ourselves on the way home observing the traffic snarl that we'd avoided on the way down.

Phoebe Row

Another great morning on the river.

As a fun aside, met a number of people i know fun the wider rowing community were at centenary this morning. Firstly Graham, Mel and myself took Phoebe for a row. Secondly Dragons rowing club who usually row in the churning waters near breakfast Creek, are having a session at Centenary and saw grammarian John King and our cox Sarah. Took a photo.
This week the two new rowers were put together in a double. They are going so well.

PARK RUN
Rocks Riverside parkrun results for event #526. At 00:38:01, your time was a distinct improvement on last week. It was noted that you did walk a bit and a sore knee, puffed lungs and lacking drive are simply excuses. Be warned at 40:01 Phoebe is only 2 minutes behind you and closing quickly.

The photo was taken within a minute of Phoebe crossing the finish line and reflects the difference a couple of minutes makes.

Then breakfast with friends.
Mark and Tim joined us.  Phoebe knocked up as wonderful spread:
Bacon, scrambled Eggs, lentil slosh,  mince,
Coffee.  Yum.

HP8562A Keyboard Repair

HP8562A Spectrum Analyzer Keyboard tear down and repair

It's Ekka Wednesday on a cold wet Brisbane day and what better to do that to get the girlfriend to dismantle a spectrum analyser.

PROBLEM
the 0 and 1 keys basically don't work and other keys are difficult.

The one on the left has a dodgy keyboard.
The one on the right displays ERR317 and ERR344.
PLAN A is to clean the contacts on the first unit and then fix the right unit.
PLAN B is to swap the right keyboard to the left.

Saturday 10 Aug

Well I'd forgotten to set my alarm and woke at 6:15.  The Normal Saturday morning activity is park run. Need to leave by 6:30 for that to happen. Rolled over and that was the end of the park run thought for today.

Emerging some time later, Phoebe and I sat on the back deck looking at houses on the net.

Decided that was all too depressing and switched to a new plan.

Into GOMA arriving just after 10.
Bought coffee and a toastie before heading into a paid exhibit.

At noon, we departed GOMA and drove to Beenleigh UC in Mt Warren Park for Catherine Solomon's inauguration as their minister. Stopped just before the church and phoebe bought a coffee and she sushi. Entered the service carrying the take away coffee. Hit the mark.
Saw various people I knew including:
Andrew,
Tim and Ro,
Erin,
Tony & Jenny,
Peter smale, Andrew Gunton.

Back home by 3:30 ish and had an hours snooze then off to the St Andrews bush dance. Saw more people known including:
Dave Fittell, Tim Hills, Robyn, Tom and for the first time, Tom's mum.

They did a round of dances then a meal and another round of dances.

Boy2Men discussion
At my place.
Dinner was the usual Spag bog.
I did both the usual 1kg mince version and a vegetarian version that used a tin of brown lentils instead of meat.  Everything else same.

Recipe is in a previous post:

For the vegetarian version:

Reflecting back on a lovely weekend.
Sunday morning looked after some learn to row kids while bobbing around on the river. Breakfast with Tim at Phoebe's. Rest of Sunday at work. That was a bit stressful.
Saturday night Graham and Mel joined me and Phoebe around the fire. Saturday morning park run. Looked at a couple of houses that didn't suit - usually because they didn't suit the bank.
