movie: No Hard Feelings

Went and saw "No Hard Feelings" with Phoebe.

The blurb says:
"On the brink of losing her childhood home, a desperate woman agrees to date a wealthy couple's introverted and awkward 19-year-old son. However, he proves to be more of a challenge than she expected, and time is running out before she loses it all."
Weird parents make for a weird kid even though they are well intentioned.  Helicopter parents with the best intentions make for bad choices.
As the movie progresses we see the Weird woman has issues in addition to the financial issues that drove her decision to effectively prostitute herself.

Hmm interesting.  Somewhat engaging. Some awkward scenes. Some funny bits. It was OK but kind of was not as deep as it could have been. OK though.

The man with the child in his eyes

It's 3am and I post on FB.
Song of the day is Kate Bush "the man with the child in his eyes"
I hope I maintain some of that childhood curiosity.

------
What's on my mind asks FB and we respond with mindless content for no particular purpose. Kind of like a playing a game of football just to complete contractual obligation. Maybe we should field a team of younger players vying for selection.
Kind of like doing wordle at 3am and musing philosophically about its meaning. Or pondering a software bug and thinking "I've got an idea". How about a picture of a cat or wondering why people keep sending me messages about parcels. I think I need a Android vm so I can answer them and observe the virus they install. And the video of the day from Kate Bush

The Man With the Child in His Eyes
/
Lyrics
I hear him, before I go to sleep
And focus on the day that's been
I realise he's there
When I turn the light off and turn over
Nobody knows about my man
They think he's lost on some horizon
And suddenly I find myself
Listening to a man I've never known before
Telling me about the sea
All his love is 'til eternity
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
He's very understanding
And he's so aware of all my situations
When I stay up late
He's always waiting, but I feel him hesitate
Oh, I'm so worried about my love
They say, "No, no, it won't last forever!"
And here I am again, my girl
Wondering what on Earth I'm doing here
Maybe he doesn't love me
I just took a trip on my love for him
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes
Ooh, he's here again
The man with the child in his eyes

dinner with James and dead reckoning

James VS jnr called the other day and let me know he would be passing through Brisbane on Monday. I invited him to stay the night and dinner. He indicated he'd like to see mission impossible too.

I cooked up steak and veg ably assisted by Peter who peeled and mashed.

Just went to see mission impossible. Thought I'd do a review. It's basically a documentary about how to make a movie where you have a Sh#$t ton of money and no plot.

It goes like this:

Something unexpected explodes. Tom Cruise receives a message that explodes. He then runs really fast, drives cars, motor bikes & horses and smashes into things, shoots things and meets up with a really hot chick who has some connection with his past.

We note even though bad guys die by the hundred in a hail of bullets, cars and motorbikes and submarines are distroyed, no horses get even a scratch much less blown up. So no horse guts for you.

Then we have a quiet intimate bit and another female co-star is introduced. I'm kind of figuring she's just standing over with her mate the lighting guy and decides "hey I want to be in a movie", so just walks in.

Then a something happens and they move to another picturesque city & Tom runs really fast. Drives cars and motorbikes really fast.  Is hotly persued by a gazillion police and bad guys. Then he runs really fast. Drives a motor bike really fast. Has a fight on a train and a bridge and argues with one of the earlier co-star women. Another of them gets killed.
The end.

Movie Expenses

Filming: "When the house is empty expenses"

This is only stuff where I kept the receipts plus the two big cash outlays.

There are other cc and cash expenses.  Maybe I will update from the CC receipts if I get really motivated.  But for now, this is it.

In the column "Receipt", Photos means there is a photo of the receipt.

not my first rodeo

As we left Goondiwindi I saw the fuel was low but figured we'd get some on the way. Bad decision. Maps showed several petrol stations but as we arrived at each one, they'd be in darkness.

Kel eased off the gas in an attempt to improve efficiency. Peta checked the ac was off. We spoke rarely and even then just in whispers in case that somehow would get us further on the remaining fuel.

Up ahead in the distance, a shimmering light. Well a red teardrop on maps representing yet another petrol station. In Pittsworth. We called and they amazingly were open and agreed to stay open until we arrived.

Luckily the fuel held and we exited the vehicle and finally began to talk excitedly.

Fueled up and a new less urgent quest began - food. On the way out of Pittsworth we saw a ton of cars and upon closer inspection observed it was a rodeo. The girl on the gate advised still an hour of bull riding to go. So we paid our entrance fee and queued for food.

Carrying our Burgers and mince rolls we took our seats as the last bulls walked off. Ahh.

Proceeded back to the car. Along the way Peta and Kel approached the lady on the gate and managed to extract half our money back.

So as yet I'm not able to use the phrase "this is not my first rodeo"

Not showing up in file explorer.

I suspect not formatted.

In the Windows search Bar, type "disk management"

I deleted everything as it would not let me format the main bit that was described as Healthy Primary Partition.

Right click in the blue or black bar.  Not in the white bit.  Choose format simple volume

Film Crew Structure Ideas

I think (but not backed by tones of experience)

A PAPER BOOKLET A5
Map showing venues and critical places (coffee, pub, accommodation, laundrette, supermarket,....)
Folded in the middle is the contact?
List of people, roles, phone numbers. Coffee type.
Week plan. Showing the locations, times incl meal times and where meal will be.  Big disclaimer that this is draft. Have a date on it so later versions can be identifed.
A elevator pitch summary of the story.

BRIEFING
Each evening go through the plan for the next day.
Times, locations.
A brief description of the shoot and where it fits in the story.

Text out the basic outline.

Email the call sheet which would have more detail.

ROLES
DIRECTOR

CAMERA ASSISTANT
Sets up the tripod and camera.
Packs it up. Looks after it.
Charges batteries.
Changes lenses. Learns menus.

Who copies the files to backup?
Needs computer, big external hard drive.

CAMERA OPERATOR

LOCATION MANGER
Finds locations. Primary point of contact with location owners. Gets location owners to sign release.

Accountant
People could write their name and reason for the receipt on the receipt.
The accountant would take a photo of it and file the photo by person.
Record the expense in some kind of structure indexed by purpose and person.
