Breakfast in Armidale

Saturday morning and we discovered that the free included breakfast was cereal and toast.  A committee determined that alternatives needed to be pursued.   It was determined that we should all squeeze into the Tiida.  Amazingly we succeeded.  We drove down town and found a cafe and enjoyed a proper hot breakfast with coffee.

A big day Saturday.
11am Aunty Margaret's 90th at Rob Metcalfe's place at Riverhills.
Many of the cousins were there including:
Lewis, James, Henry.
Rod, Andrew, Lois, david
Peter,  Carolyn, Jessica
Mark, Owen.

After those celebrations were complete it was home to regroup.
4:30
Megan progressed the cooking and I drove into work to start and connect Derek's generator. The back story being a scheduled loss of power on  Sunday.

At 5:30 we converged at Edwina's house for her suprise 50th.

6:15 depart to drive to Oxley. Received text from Henry advising "everything is burning".
6:30 arrived home and Megan worked with Henry's committee to resolve the situation.
7:00 we sat down to dinner. We being
Henry & Peta.
James & Kay.
Lewis & Claire.
Frank & Megan,
Marcus, Chris, Dan & Jemma.
Lucy  (dog) would patrol for scraps and Oreo (cat) nowhere to be seen.

The part number on the genuine switch is A 639 545 09 13     

Genuine on the right.
After market on the left.
The after market unit is about 2mm 1.1 longer.

(Interesting when I measured with a digital caliper only 1.1mm longer compared to a visual estimate of 2mm)

Genuine 144.5mm	After Market 145.6  => 1.1mm longer

Genuine switch assy fits in the door.

The aftermarket unit is too long and does not fit in

I think this is Wastegate Solenoid Valve "A".  It does move when one presses the accelerator but is it enough?

Vito Drivers Window Mechanism

Well the Vito continues to be a pain in the .....
The Drivers window mechanism has died.  Google of course shows how common this is.  And the problem is PLASTIC parts.  They just don't last.

I watched this youtube video and then set about dismantling our Vito's door.  The only thing to add to what the fellow in the video says is that the mastic thhat glues the foam down is much easier to prize open when it is soft.  So park the car in the sun then move it into the shade to dismantle.
