Epson XP235 Printer Scanner Configuration
12-6-2017 Update Post - Installing XP-235 on Franks Z20T Laptop
Observed Windows 10 has automatically installed the printer. -> Did nothing
27-4-2017 Original Post:
We have a XP-235 ink jet printer & flat bed scanner.
PROBLEM
The problem is how to set it's IP address.
Currently it is connected to our LAN and has received it's IP address from the ADSL modem wireless router.
I would like it to have a fixed IP address.
The Epson web page is http://www.epson.com.au/products/multifunctional/ExpressionHomeXP-235.asp
In the downloads section they provide a configuration tool "EpsonNet Config" that one downloads and installs on your pc - Done.
We click the button for Manual IP address
Enter the desired IP address
And click "Transmit" button (Not shown on this grab - it's at the bottom of the screen)
And we get an error.
Now we were able to chaneg the printers name using this method. So I suspect the problem is confined to tje changing of the IP address.
WHY would I like a fixed IP address.
Well one reason is that I like infrastructure like routers and printers to have fixed IP addresses.
In this case though, whenever the IP address changes, then you have to run the Epson scan setting program before the scanning program will work. Until you run Epson Scan Settings, the scan program can't see the scanner.
27-4-2017 Submitted a support request to Epson.

Stanthorpe Road Trip With Lucy
It's Easter and Megan has gone off on a trip of a lifetime supervising exchange students on a bus trip from Alice Springs to Adelaide.
Dan and Jemma have gone with Paul & Cybele to Stanthorpe.
Chris has to stay in Brisbane because he has rowing training.
I decided to spend two days with Dan & Jemma in Stanthorpe and then two days with Chris in Brisbane.
Lucy was the obvious choice of a travelling companion.
We departed Friday morning. The original plan was to depart 5:
Arrived Warwick and had breakfast with Lewis. He produced bacon and tomato grilled in the oven and fried eggs.
Lewis von Stieglitz: We were honoured to host the head of the family for bacon, eggs & coffee. Bertie and Lollie did sterling work keeping Lucy from joining us.
Quite a little tent city . Dan's tent to the right. Mine to the left.

2017 State Masters Rowing
Frank Coomera
1 Brett Cribb
2 Rem Bruijn
3 Peter Hastie
4 Russell Cole
5 Andrew Murrell
6 Frank Thomson
7 Scott Austin
8 David Cleasby
S: Michelle Loveday
Boat: Rented from UQ/Kings
Two races. Screamed in last in each race.
Interesting that others wrote lots of positive emails about it. Like it wasn't a terrible race but I found it hard to be so positive about coming last. Obviously a lot of people agreed with her email because they came back with very positive replies.

Gents,
I was too excited not to send this to you tonight.
They were 2 of the most impressive last places ever! You should be so happy with yourselves. Just a fantastic effort today. (Evan and Andrew, you deserve to be a part of this glory even though you weren’t there today and a huge thanks to the tremendous power of Frank and Scott)
The second race by far the best. Goes to show you don’t need me other than to steer straight
Hoping you all got the photos. Let me know if you didn’t.
Race 21: Mens D 8
8th place 3:50.91 (very very close behind Commercial and Grammarians 1)
Off the starting blocks at R33 split 1:37
First 300m were fantastic after the false start previous. 9+m length each stroke. Split 1:40
At the dreaded 500m we split 1:50 , but still nice and long, R32.
At the even harder 750m - 850m mark….actually, the longest "150 m to go”, we lost nearly 1m per stroke, but snapped out of it to finish long and strong….the added motivation that we were able to gain ground on Grammarians 1 and Commercial, and were close behind Sunshine Coast who were beside us, certainly helped.
That was a really nice finish.
Race 40: Mens C 8
6th Place 3:39.37
Off the starting blocks at R30 split 1:42
First 500m strong and long at R31-32 nearly 9m per stroke 1:45 - 1:47 split
Hick up at the 600m, lost 1m per stroke, split 1:58, maintained a 32 rating to the finish line.
We were approx 1 boat length behind Grammarians 3 most of the way. Held Grammarians 1 the entire way.
Nice work Cribby calling the last 400m!
Sleep well everyone
Kind regards
Michelle

Palm Island
We just spent some time on a Cultural exchange trip to Palm island.
Very interesting.
The invitation came around Christmas at our church. A culture awareness trip. When this trip was initial floated, My initial reaction was ho hum.
Then Australia Day and my Facebook feed was inundated with a flood of posts bitching about Aboriginal injustice, references to "invasion day" and so on. These posts seemed worded to elicit aggressive responses and when those inevitably arrived, the authors would complain about being attacked.
As I reflected on this I figured that this kind of engagement is not going to lead to any kind of future peace or reconciliation. I also realised that I do not know a single Aboriginal. My exposure is basically to aggressive white do-gooders on Facebook and that does not endure me to anything associated with this.
The essence of this trip seemed to be to provide an opportunity to listen. I refrained from asking the Australia day question and figured I'd wait and see if it was answered on it's own.
We had an interesting and relaxing time on palm island. Then took a car ferry over to the mainland. One of the days on the mainland we went to Mungulla station. http://www.mungallaaboriginaltours.com.au/ This is a cattle station owned and run by aboriginal people. It's also a sort of day trip tourist tour place.
They had inherited a display, put together some time back, by the Queensland museum. This was very interesting to me. The main take away for me was the realisation that in the 1800's there was an organised and concerted effort to kill as many aboriginals especially males.
So the question was answered by the provision of information.
It was noticeable the grace by which all the Aboriginal people spoke.
Richard Cassady (Tour Organiser) and Buddy (24yo at Mungulla station) in particular but also everyone from the people who served me in the snack bar on Palm through to the people in the museum we visited before going to Mungulla. No one took a aggressive stance and yet it is clear that a lot of wrong was done to them.
So my gut feeling is that we need to change Australia day off 26-Jan.
We need a date that can be representative of all Australians including the indigenous people.
I think that can only happen by white middle class people calmly taking the idea on board and I think that will happen through education. probably in short bursts.
I don't think that is going to be achieved in response to aggressive action by either black or white Australians. I suspect that aggressive action will simply polarise people.
I was intrigued that some of my rowing friends, who I would as a sweeping generalization, describe as rich, white and conservative asked me about the trip and were willing to listen to my description of the injustices done. I'm sure had I taken an aggressive bad white people invasion day stance, they would have switched off immediately.
On the trip, I asked Richard about the people who were aggressive about the invasion day thing and hes response was along the lines of he is looking to the future and it's up to them as to whether they can catch up.
OTHER THOUGHTS
It seems to me that Palm is stuffed as far as western economy is concerned. There is nothing to do. Unless you have a government job then there seems no other employment.
I think some tourist work could be created along the lines of what we saw in Noumea.
Individuals could :
provide 4WD transport / tours / taxi / uber
Crabbing / trip in a tinne.
Horse riding.
Guided walking tours maybe with an overnight camp?
All of these could be done as a small scale thing. I suspect one big impediment would be the over regulation of everything in Australia. Insurance would be another issue. We knew in Noumea that the fellow and his van would have no insurance. I doub't anyone would let someone just run a micro tourist thing like described above in Aus without a gazillion layers of insurance. We just need one person injured and thats the end of nothing anyway.
