Pipes and Plumbing

WHAT THREAD IS ON 1/2" POLY PIPE
AI Overview
The thread on a 1/2 inch poly pipe is BSP 1/2 in, which is also known as 15 mm or DN15. These terms can be used interchangeably in plumbing catalogs.

do half in poly pipe fittings have straight or tapered threads
AI Overview
Half inch poly pipe fittings typically have tapered threads; most commonly using a "BSPT" (British Standard Pipe Tapered) thread type, which means the threads gradually get smaller as they extend along the fitting, creating a tighter seal when screwed together.
Key points about poly pipe fittings and threads:
Tapered for better seal:
The tapered design allows for a more secure connection by compressing the threads as they are tightened, ensuring a watertight seal.
Thread type:
Most commonly, poly pipe fittings use BSPT threads, which are considered a standard for plumbing applications.
Straight threads exist but are less common:
While some poly pipe fittings might have "BSPP" (British Standard Pipe Parallel) straight threads, these are generally less common due to the sealing benefits of a tapered thread.

BSP & BSPT
Are BSP and BSPT the same?
No, BSP and BSPT are not the same. BSP stands for British Standard Pipe, while BSPT stands for British Standard Pipe Tapered. The main difference between the two is the shape of the thread.

CAN I CUT A BSPT THREAD?

Park Run

Mags and I did park run today.
Still it's a walk run as I need to lose weight and gain strength.
Hot and humid

DRIVE
In fact the more I think about it the more I wish I'd checked my calendar.
If I drive and park in town, it makes the evening arrangements easier. More expensive at about $40. But then I could have rowed this morning.

SOME DAYS ARE DIAMONDS....
So I get into 1 Eagle St level 31.  It's ten to eight  and I cant believe that I am the first one here.  A phone call to Dan and I discover that it's next week.

I muse on the in consistency of it all.  On the first hand, I was frustrated that I had not checked my calendar when agreeing with the Friday night dinner and then on the other hand I had gone with my calendar for Coragio.  A glass of scotch and a swim at the beach perhaps.

Says there's a manual lever on the fuel pump to fill the fuel filter with diesel.  I just need to now find the fuel pump.

St Stephens

Picked up Phoebe and we drove into the city. Parked under St Stephen's cathedral.

On the surface, enjoyed the ambience. Dropped into the chapel and sat and reflected.

Main church and a pleasant service although we didn't have a book with all the liturgy in it. The sermon was based on the water to wine reading about change or transformation.

After the service,  went up behind the sanctuary. They have slumped glass that let's in light and a confession area.  Sat and reflected.  Phoebe lit a candle.

Home to Phoebe's for breakfast.

Park run

Phoebe,  Mags and I did park run.  Still mostly walk with a bit of running.  As we stood around beforehand, a young girl with a child styled camera was taking photos of dogs. These later appeared on FB.

Breakfast in Lillian ave Salisbury.

Then onto Sunnybank Uniting Church as they were having a clean out. Phoebe wanted some banners for the services she runs at the nursing homes.

Saw Catherine and Derek.

I scored a couple of speaker stands. Derek scored two ultranet audio Thingies.  He loaned me one to try.

Back home, Lunch was salad and a bit of roast beef.
1pm left for a run to work via the ironing shop and Phoebe went to her place.
Researched and booked tickets Tbilisi to Istanbul. There were a lot of costs added at the end.  Departure and arrival taxes.

Win11 Task Bar Icon Problem

Today my laptop started showing the wrong icon.

Is it due to Open Shell?

How about a reboot?
Rebooting made a difference.  Firefox and Screenhunter icons came back.  Thunderbird is still wrong.

Lets delete OpenShell.  Then Reboot.  And the icon is back

And lets reinstall Openshell.  From Ninite.com  V4.4.195 And reboot. And the icons are gone again.  Bugga.

Lets do another reboot.  Bugga.

And uninstall Openshell again. Reboot and the icons are back.

Turns out I have WIN 11 Home version 23H2   64 Bit
Installed 6-1-2022
OS Build 22631.4602
Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1055.0

So I wonder if Ninite have the most recent version of Openshell.
https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu  shows the latest rev at 4.4.195
So Ninite is up to date.

Did another couple of reboots and the icons vanish again.
Feels like some kind of restart race condition

And rebooted and they are back

Possibly I need to rebuild the icon cache

https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5645-rebuild-icon-cache-windows-10-a.html

Now try SFC /scannow

Windows-X
Terminal (Admin)
Then type sfc /scannow and it checks windows files

Ceiling Mould

Decided to have a go at closing l cleaning the mould off the ceiling.

Google and there's lots of advice.  It seems the front runners are vinegar and bleach. Figured you can't eat bleach so it's probably stronger.

The second question is application.
This fellow uses a spray bottle.  This convinced me in regard to bleach.
https://youtu.be/Mqz4SCinspE?si=BDCKGMPiTI73aHlE

This is bleach v vinegar and it seems both work.  Maybe bleach a bit better. https://youtu.be/kbRKXNZxSAQ?si=Hv6VOWOTvO-s8Fv0

Bunnings trip 1 and purchased a spray bottle and long gloves.   For ceiling though I found that the spray approach meant lots of mist dropping to the floor.

This lot use a paint roller. That worked much better.
