New Car For Chris
That seemed to be about the market price.
INSURANCE
Insurance seemed to be strange,y interesting
The excess that is paid when there is an accident is made up of two components.
A standard excess that applies to any claim regardless of whos at fault or the age of the driver
An age excess that applies for drivers under 25.
One can "list" under age drivers on the policy. This increases the cost of the policy but reduces the age excess.
For example
A policy only in Frank's name (Adult) is $559 per year. If an under 25 driver has an accident the excess is the $800 standard PLUS the $1400 age excess making a total excess cost of $2200.
So if Chris has no accident we spend $559 and if he has an accident we spend $2759
Alternatively we can list Chris on the policy. Then the premium rises to $1534 and the age excesss drops to $400. making a total excess of $800 + $400 = $1200.
So if Chris has no accident we spend $1534 and if he has an accident, we spend $2734
As $2734 is almost the same as $2759, there seems no significant benefit in paying the higher premium.
If we manage two years with no accident the savings are much more striking.
Franks policy. No listed under age drivers No accident - $559 x 2 = $1118 spend
Franks policy. No listed under age divers 1 accident in 2 yrs $559 x 2 + $2200 = $3318
Frank with chris listed & no accident in 2 years $1534 x 2 = $3068
Frank with chris listed. 1 accident in 2 years $1534 x 2 + $1200 = $4268
No accidents in 2 years $1118 v $3068
One accident in 2 years $3318 v $4268
So we seem to be much better off having the policy in my name and not listing the under age drivers.
Chris talked to Ian to get a few pointers for inspection

GenD Keystone Cops
One cox box and a flat speed coach available.
Observed the boat had a seat out so we decided to put it on trestles only to find two seats missing.
meanwhile team B are putting the tinnie in the water.
Second seat located in a plastic bag over on RedLegs side of the shed.
And of course we are having trouble with working out where to plug the cox box in.
Oars down and we carry the boat down.
We successfully place the boat on the water.
Bow side get the oars
Meanwhile the tinnie has half sunk and gets pulled onto the pontoon.
A desperate search locates one bung inside the boat.
The state High girls are sniggering as we lift our boat out of the water and put it away.
Tail between our legs.
Tinnie back on land and I randomly look in the tool box to find a bag with 5 spare bungs.
We did however successfully buy a coffee.

Dan's Birthday 17
Dinner to celebrate with Callan tick
After dropping her I went home. First task locate books and put in car.
Showered, dressed & breakfast cereal.
Drove back out to meet her. I thought IO would be a few minutes early but the traffic was terrible. Not as bad as in the other direction. An inbound prang on Ipswich Rd had the traffic stationary back to forever.
Outbound was OK until we hit the inbound traffic on the Western Freeway
Jemma cooking
We've got a bit of a system happening. Sunday night a round table discussion and people put their hands up to do stuff.
Lilee likes shopping and took on the task of filling the pantry.
This week's cooking ended up as
Monday- Jemma.
Tuesday- Restaurant.
Wednesday-Frank
Thursday-Chris & Lillee.
Friday- Dan.
This photo is Jemma cooking chicken and veggies. She took the dog for a walk to Coles and bought chicken breasts. Chopped up vegies and fried it all up.
A learning experience to the extent that the vegies were at one stage under done and then the bottom got burned. She saved the day by zapping the vegetables in the microwave. Luckily the burnt smell remained in the kitchen and did not follow the food onto the plates.

The 2018 Mobile Phone Plan Investigation
Only considered
Infinite phone + text.
Then consider Amount of data v $ per month
In each case I went to the suppliers web site.
I ignored any special offer sweetners giving a free month or a cheep first month. Some were quite deceptive and it was hard to find the cost of second and subsequent months.
A few things to note
Kogan is the best value although deceptive pricing on their web site.
Virgin are going out of business.
