One framework some of us use is:
MOUNTAIN
VALLEY
OASIS
HORIZON
MOUNTAIN - a recent high point.
VALLEY - a low point
OASIS - a time of calm in the last week.
HORIZON - something I'm looking forward to.
Last night I quickly thought of a horizon being the up coming travel.
Initially couldn't think of valleys, mountains or even an oasis. Life just seemed pretty good. Rolling along comfortably.
Then realised ahh yes I do have a valley in the form of a broken foot.
Later pondered how my mental state has changed with time. 5 years ago, I would have been very down. I would have fixated on that broken foot as confirmation that the world is against me. My life socks. I'm a clumsy idiot and so on.
Now my mental space is much more positive such that while a broken foot is an annoyance and I was annoyed with myself for slipping, there's not the accompanying depression, negative view and anger.
