Australia Day

Australia day seems to have become very polarised. 

I don't see how the label "invasion day" is helpful. 

I can understand that people of aboriginal descent would not look back on the arrival of white people as being a good thing. 

I'd like to hope that we could find a way where an "Australia Day" is a day where we look to the future.   

For me, there's a reality that none of the people living in Australia were alive back in 1788.  Focusing on the negatives of the past seems a bad thing. 

Now that's not to say that we should try to minimise the past.   The phrase "those who ignore history are bound to repeat it
