Cough phlegm

Got sick in Japan. Coughing up phlegm and runny nose.  It keept going upon return to Brisbane.

Sunday 8 March I decided to go a doctor. Phoebe went out and bought covid test kits and face masks.  The covid test was negative.

Went to the emergency care clinic
364 Ipswich Rd, Annerley QLD 4103.

A bit of a diversion while I accessed my Medicare card as the government has discontinued the Medicare app and replaced it with part of the my gov app. A good example of enshitification.

In the end it was quick and free.

The doc looked in my mouth and said their was some infection.

I had looked up dr google and it said that phlegm can be generated as the body's response to infection or irritation in the upper respiratory tract.

The doc prescribed as below.

I'm annoyed at myself for not going to the doc as soon as we got back to Brisbane. These days I try to go to the doc a soon as I start to feel crook but this time I didn't.

APO-Amoxy/Clav 875/125 (amoxicillin/clavulanic acid) is a prescription antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections that may cause excess phlegm, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, and sinusitis. It is a high-dose tablet often used for severe infections, taken every 12 hours.

How it Treats Phlegm-Producing Infections
Mechanism: Amoxicillin kills the bacteria causing the infection, while clavulanic acid stops bacteria from destroying the amoxicillin, making the antibiotic more effective.
Indications: It is indicated for lower respiratory tract infections (like pneumonia and bronchitis) and upper respiratory infections (like sinusitis) that cause thick mucus.
Viral Infections: It will not treat phlegm caused by viral infections, such as the common cold or flu.
