Santosh: "The $89 is the activation fee, However you won't have to pay any charges for the installation.

30-March I signed up for the $99/mo 1TB cable internet using the on
line chat process and in that I indicated that there was no cable coming
in from the street. It's now 28-May and I just received a phone call
from Telstra letting me know that they will get it all going by 15-June.
Now there was a little delay because I thought they had thrown in cabling as a sweetner and I have the chat record that implies that but anyway that was resolved in April. In hindsight, I wish I'd kept better notes of what happened when.
recent milestones
3-May-2017 a tech came and looked at the house and looked at the wire in the street and said the wire in the street was too high for his little ladder and he would need a cheery picker. I also had to learn the lingo. Apparently I don't just need an install, I need a "Full Install".
Also on 3-May, Elisha from Telstra told me it would be all done by 29-MAy.
Around 8-May-2017 a wire appeared from the pole to our house and has been dangling off the eve ever since.
Somewhere along the line I another couple of calls from telstra telling me that it was all about to happen.
On 15-May I called and spoke to Yang who said she would email her supervisor.
Now today 28-May I'm told 15 June.
But wait. All is not lost.
I have a cunning plan.
DIY install.
I reckon a trip to Jaycar to get an connector. A roll of tape and a ball of string. I reckon it's about half an hours work.

Telstra Hi Frank,
We appreciate you taking the time to reach out and advise of your plans for a DIY install. While I can understand the delays are frustrating, please know any tampering with any NBN Co or Telstra equipment/infrastructure is indeed illegal and can attract hefty consequences.
Here's hoping you are up and running sooner rather than later and such proposed action is avoided.

Frank Thomson Was kind of hoping you might reach out to your technician.
Jon Atherton Typical
Telstra response really - Hopeless. I had 500gig cable and did an
online request to increase it to the 1000gig. A few days later a new
router, wifi unit, Telstra TV were delivered - none of which was
required since it was an upgrade to the existing
service... I called and they said they would "try" and cancel the
**entirely new account** they had setup - apparently it was going to use
the same cable! Meanwhile the promised return bag for the equipment
hasn't materialised after 2 weeks, and I bet I receive a double bill for
the old and new service - maybe if I should throw it all out??
Frank Thomson Telstra I have these numbers. Collected in various interactions.

Graham Ironside It
probably wouldn't harm the speed if you just leave the coax where it
is, crimp the string to the end of it and run that in Frank. Any bets on
whether the first bloke that turns up is just to see if you've done the
DIY and not do the install???
Telstra Thank you for the reference number Frank. I have emailed your case manager and forward on your feedback.
I have requested for them to get in touch with you as soon as possible. Please do let us know once you have received the call back.
Will hear from you then.

Frank Thomson Telstra We wait and see. :)
Don Bowden go with Graham's idea but keep the string wet it will increase the speed
Frank Thomson Just checkin' which crimp tool works with string. And I like the wet string idea. Sounds kinda appropriate.
Lewis von Stieglitz Oh dear, don't reach out too far. The ladder will topple over. Stick to threats about tampering.
Sheikh Yer Butah Maybe
they left the coil of cable hoping the frustration would drive you to
use it to hang yourself, thus negating the need to do complete the
install.
Frank Thomson I think the Sheikh Yer Butah may be on to something.
Sheikh Yer Butah This
will add to your pain. My in-laws in Sydney didn't want or need an
internet connection, but FTTH was installed anyway, back in the days
when the "real" NBN was being rolled out.
John Asson Wireless Frank for wireless!!!
Frank Thomson My hope is that wireless will save us from the NBN.
John Asson Frank Thomson I have the 5G devices but no service as yet.
Write a reply...
Lewis von Stieglitz This is in fact lack of iniative by you Frank Thomson. We are at a loss as to why you have not done the jarcar thing & sent telstra the bill. Sloughful suburban living. #bringbackPMG.
Henry Thomson Very little remains of the telephone system you Frank Thomson
built as a child around 1974, which connected the houses of five or six
or more other kids. The telegraph pole in the middle of my backyard is
long gone. A bit of wire is on the neighbour's carport and a thing on my house. I recall James Von Stieglitz saw the removal of some wiring that stretched along the back fences of twenty or so houses up the street about 25 years ago.
James Von Stieglitz Well blow me down, Frank has a case manager - telecommunications and social work are finally joined.
Kyle Remphrey You'll probably be kicked down the nbn list a couple of weeks now :)
John Asson Perhaps you should tell them who you really are.
Alan Kepper Funny
Alan Kepper Have your ACMA certs?
Kyle Remphrey Seems like quite a quick process for a change.
Ian Hutchings I would not touch Tesltra with a firty foot barge pole. Odious company appalling service. Glad to be shot of them
