Saturday To Insbrook & London

SATURDAY 24 FEBRUARY
minibus from Corvara to Insbrook.
Confusion about the departure time and place. The ticket said 7:32. Somehow the driver apparently thought 7.
A long and sometimes tense trip as he seemed to drive a bit too fast for the conditions.

Saw some protesters had blocked the autobahn in the opposite direction. I'm wondering what they will achieve. No media to broadcast their sillyness. I imagine all they achieve is alienating the populace.

Bus to the main railway station Haupbahnhof. Stored bags in Henry's hotel. Walked through the old city. Narrow lanes, 6 story buildings bright coloured.

Henry chose a Cafe. The others had parmy and I had a Lasagne.

Off to the tourist shop where Henry bought a Insbrook card. Then we toured the old imperial palace. It appears some tension between the previous royal family and the current democratic regime.

Took some photos near the river then walked back through more historic streets full of modern shops. Collected bags and hopped on bus to airport.

INSBROOK AIRPORT
Next time you feel the need to complain about Brisbane airport, this is Insbrook airport.    As for mantra about getting there early, don't!  The bag drop is via a human and stays closed until there's a huge queue. A nice man alerted me that there was a new desk open and it was my turn. Once past security, you can sit comfortably on a set of stairs conveniently partitioned off for just that.

Pasport immigration just lead to another corral.

Boarding was by a thing called groups. I have not worked out what a group is. I was group 9 the sign said groups 1-3 then it just said boarding.

The whole thing is totally inefficient and slow. First onto a bus which then had to back up and a while later a second bus arrived.  Getting off the bus and onto the plane continued the theme of slow inefficiency. They load the front rows first the isle cloggs up as the people slated for the rear wait for those at the front to sit.

Inboard and its like jetstar with a bored flight attendant repeating "welcome" in a bored zoned out voice. A small bag of nuts for free but anything else seemed to cost money. No leg room as expected and because the overhead bins were full my bag is at my feet.
