Train out of Paris to Château de Fontainebleau. Think upscale everything. Many many large impressive rooms. By the time you have seen a half dozen it is difficult to remember the look of the earlier rooms. Much of the day was spent in Fontainebleau. Before the chateau visit we had lunch in the village. After, we walked around the gardens.
Evening was catching up with cousin Owen Thomson and Pimmada Cyada Thomson and and their colleagues. Previously I caught up with Owen in London a year earlier. At a future time I would like to see them in the Solomon Islands. A traditional French dinner was had. It was great see them.
Final morning in Paris. We chose to walk some two or so kilometres of interesting streets to the Opera house. Very light rain, which luckily held off. We still went straight to the entrance some half hour before our scheduled entry time, and were admitted. Building is quite amazing. A masterpiece; a work of art; a national monument. The building is quite outstanding. We both enjoyed very much walking the grand staircase, looking at the auditorium and the great hall, and more. Even a further walk around revealed yet detail we didn’t see initially.
With ease checked in for the Eurostar to London.
