2018 SEQ Rowing School State Championships

2018 SEQ state champs.
Started with Friday afternoon boat loading and finished with washing on Sunday.

We had 4 Brigidine girls. Caitlin & Asha in gr9 Jemma & Jessie in gr8. Together they formed our gr9 quad.

To me the results were under par. It's hard to know what to say in these public forums. In my view reflected that we just need more time on the water both in singles and crew boats. The quad that had done so well at GCRASRA was well off the pace and a close inspection showed the timing to be a bit ordinary.

Caitlin and Asha had, I think, a really frustrating and disappointing weekend. Caitlin is strong and Asha really fit but it just did not come together. I felt bad for them.

Jemma and Jessie had both started well in their singles but faded in the second 500 so I was a bit apprehensive about the double. However somehow in the double they motivated each other to keep going and to cross the line in second place in the final. The All Hallows coach (Sponge) congratulated me and bemoaned :) that our girls had thwarted his plans for a 1 2 3 podium finish.

My hope is the girls can lift and focus and use this as a motivator to focus themselves on Rocky. I know that they are capable of rowing really well and hopefully we can use the weeks ahead to get that happening.

"They" have been pushing dirt around to make a rowing centre.  I describe the current landscape as the Wyaralong wasteland.
