Right royal pain in the ass.

SOLUTION
Control panel> System and security > System> Advanced system settings (in upper-left side)
> Advanced tab> Settings in Performance box>
Visual effects: Here please disable Animate controls and elements inside windows tick box

PROBLEM DETAIL
I have the same issue on my Toshiba Z20.
My son has the same issue on his laptop.
We had a consultant at our work yesterday and he had the same issue.
There are a gazillion people all over the internet with this problem.

It's only MS word. It's not power point or excell. No other programs. not libre office.
 Not my video editing program.
Not thunderbird mail.
Not any browsers (Edge, IE, Firefox, chrome)
It's only word.

I have to my knowledge all the updates from windows update.

The interesting thing is that when I go to device manager and look at the driver details for the laptops inbuilt screen I get a different driver than for the external monitor. We seem to have two things in device manager

Display adapters and Monitors Device Manager>Display sdapters>Intel(R) HD Graphics 530C>
Right Click Properties>
Driver Driver Provider: Intel Corporation
Driver Date: 24/03/2016
Driver Version: 20.19.15.4404

Device Manager>Monitors>Dell E228WP      This is the external monitor
Right Click Properties>Driver
Driver Provider: Dell Inc
Driver Date 23/08/2006

Device Manager>Monitors>Generic PnP Monitor I wonder if this is the internal LCD???
Right Click Properties>Driver
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date 23/08/2006                Really 2006 This may be a hint
Driver Version: 10.0.15063.0

COMPUTER I have windows 10 Pro 64 bit. 8GB ram and 256GB SSD

How To Study

How to study
Way way back then. 2nd semester engineering at UQ. Crashed and burned. I went to student services and got a few pointers on how to study. This is what worked for me.

A little caveat:  This is what worked for me.  You need to decide what if any of it is useful to you and work out what works for you.

MAKE A PLAN
For me it was 1.5hrs ON half hour OFF. Suggest for you guys a shorter time. Maybe 30-40 minutes on 15 off.
In the off do something different. Like if you've been doing lots of reading don't spend the off time reading a magazine. Suggest physical activity. Run, erg, ping pong.

During the day write the plan. I could imagine it looks like
4:00 arrive home. Snack.
4:15 maths - problems 4 & 7 and revise chapter 2
4:45 erg 5:00 history - write draft essay on bla
5:45 go help parents in kitchen. (This is called public relations) Eat dinner
7:00 science revise for test.
7:45 shower.
8:00 go to bed because rowing tomorrow.

Start on time Finish on time. Even if your half way through a problem just stop. You may find over time that knowing the stop time is coming that a quick panic and things get done in the available time.

HOMEWORK
Start each question at school - Often it's hard to get started. Looks so easy in class but when you go to do it, you just can't start. So start at school where you can ask a quick question of someone else. Then finish at home.

ASSIGNMENTS
Write dot points as you think of them. Even during the day.

EXECUTION
Break the work down & allocate time. If it's maths you can say so many minutes per question. If history / English it can be minute per paragraph or section or topic. If you are stuck, write dot points about what you think should be done. If you are stuck, move on. Don't flog a dead horse.

SHARING IS CARING If a friend asks you how to do something. Show him what you've done. Don't stress if he gets a better mark for the assignment, you'll do better in the exam.

PHONE A FRIEND often it's hard to get started. If your stuck, write the dot points and then ask someone. Consider asking parents or older siblings. If nothing else consider that as PR. Smile and nod even if they have no idea. Thank them and follow it up with some one else.

ASK THE TEACHER unless you've breezed through the homework with no issues, there is likely to be something you got stuck on. Write a question. That will help clarify what your stuck on. Show your attempt even if what you show is a couple of other question/answers from the same set of homework. (Teachers tend to not help if they think your just lazy)

Shortys last day Rowing Coachig

Jemma was a part of this.

Two teams
2k erg - Designated team member.
Rest of the team had to get a double scull ready and a tinny down.
10k ergo - Machine set to 10. Team relay - Change when you like.
Teams work out their own best formula - distance, time, when split starts to increase.
250 Squats
100 push ups
6 km double scull - Rest of the team in the tinny - change when they like.
4.2km jog
Mixed 8 - 3k row

Travel Insurance

Previous travel insurance has expired.  My notes from last time are here
Need to get a new quote.
Last time QBE via TUH was the best deal.  So in the interests of timeliness we will start off with them.  Also last time, the price AND the conditions changed depending on the point of entry.  So we need to enter via TUH.  This turns out to be a bit obscure because no direct link on the TUH page.  A quick phone call to TUH established that we need to search "Travel insurance".

Liverpool fc tickets not so easy

Dan would like to go and see a football match at Liverpool in the UK.
Turns out buying a ticket is dam hard.
We would like to go the game
Sat 30th Dec 2017 15:00 Leicester City.

Turns out you can't just buy tickets.  They just don't sell them as far as I can see.
You have to be a member to buy tickets.

 1
This page http://www.liverpoolfc.com/tickets/how-to-buy-tickets/members
advises
"Members Sale - These take place in both July and November"
So we are in November but it would appear that is not actually enough.
The sale is due to start tomorrow 14th-NOV-2018 BUT one has to have been a member by 9-NOV-2017 So we have missed that option.

2
Note MAY need to have seen some previous games.  But don't actually know.

Prices would be
http://www.liverpoolfc.com/membership/adult
Lite membership = GBP26.99 = $AUD46.20
Then a ticket = GBP9-59  = $AUD15.41 to AUD101 depends on the stand.
So Could be $AUD150 and no guarantee.

3
HOSPITALITY
Hospitality means pay an inordinate amount to eat at a on site restaurant or stay in a hotel that you really do not want to stay at and get a ticket thrown in.

There are a number of restaurants.  The cheapest seems to be called the Calsberg Dug Out and that is
GBP191 (+VAT) - $AUD328
Wow! And it's not even in the stadium

Most if not all of the on site venues are sold out.

4
DODGY? RE-SELLERS
I do not understand how this works.  I think they are reselling other peoples season passes so you get a pass with someone elses name on it.

CONTACTING LIVERPOOL FC
One has to fill in a 'email' form here -> http://help.liverpoolfc.com/app/ask

International bookings +44 151 907 9399 which is pretty useless as they do not sell tickets.

BGS rowing friendly regatta

Saturday saw a friendly regatta.  BGS Terrace Nudgee.  Needless to say, Nudgee won everything.

Brigidine Rowing - passing on the oars

Brigidine rowing celebrated Tallulah being appointed as the 2018 Rowing Captain.

The cerimonial handover was performed by stand in Captain Annie who in the perpetual absence of the rowing Captain has selflessly undertaken all sorts of leadership responsibilities.
