Waffle for Breakfast

Makes 4 waffles.  = 2 people.  Suggest at least X2

1
Turn on Waffle maker so it heat stabilises.

2.
45g butter into cup.  Heat.
In microwave, I did 10second bursts with a stir between.
(If you heat the butter at the last minute and then stir it in, it curdles the milk)

3.
Sift 1.5 tablespoons caster sugar into a bowl.  Keep.

4.
Small Bowl.
Egg white from 1 egg.  (Keep the yolk in a cup)
Beat until soft Peaks.
Gradually pour in the caster sugar.
Beat until sugar disolved.

5.
in a bowl.
1 Cup Self Raising Flour.  Sift it in.
1 egg yolk.
1 Cup milk
Electric mixer.
Add melted butter as you mix.
Mix till smooth.

6.
Use spatula to "fold in" the previously beaten egg whites.

7.
Put butter on the waffle iron so they don't stick.
Cook.

 TOPPINGS

8.
Whipped cream - About 1/2 a bottle for 2 people.  It was a bit light on but a whole bottle would have been way too much for 2.

 Strawberries.
Maple Syrup

Giant bike tyres

Bicycle tyre

The tyres on my bike are due for replacement.

----------------------------
16-11-2021 Update
/www.bicyclesonline.com.au  - No listing for 700x40C
https://www.bicyclestore.com.au  only 1 tyre $62.90

-------------------------

Needing to educate myself on styles and prices.

RIMS
The rims are marked
ERO  593
ETRTO 622x19

TYRES
The tyres are marked
700x40C
40-622

What does 700C mean in bike tires?
700C is used to refer to any tire, rim, or wheel with a 622mm BSD, but it could be on a skinny-tired road bike where the wheel has an actual diameter of only 660mm (which is actually a little LESS than 26 inches!), or a mountain bike with a wheel diameter of over 29 inches

Went to K-mart. They had tyres and tubes for $5.  Hmm me thinks.

Went to Giant and asked about how tyre sizes match up rim sizes. And tyres. Their tyres started at $50.

Went back to K mart and bought some.

At home the reason for $5 quickly became clear. These were called "folding" tyres. I suspect the packaging department controlled the specification.  Well neigh impossible to get on the rim. Not because of size.  Just because so floppy.  No bead.

Finally got it on.
Connected the pump.
Put a bit of air in.
Massaged the tyre in case the tube had any folds or kinks.
Bit more air.  Another massage.
Continued until firm.
Checked pressure marking on tyre 60-75psi.
Began to pump.
Watched the gauge.
Pretty much on the dot of 60psi there was an insane bang. I almost had a heart attack.
Tyre off rim and big rip in the tube.

I think what happened was the tyre stretched and when it finally came clear of the rim it could not contain the tube.

Boot Z20t from USB

I cant get my Tochiba Z20t to boot from USB.

1. Check USB is bootable  (See below)
2. Check Bios set to boot   F2 menu
3. Disable Secure boot - (F2 Menu) done
4. Force Boot from USB (F12 Menu)

Does not work.
I have a Win 8 USB, A Linux "Ulimate Boot CD" USB
None work?

1 This shows MBR which I understand means it is bootable

#3 Disable Secure Boot

READ HARD DRIVE HARDWARE SERIAL NUMBER
What I would really like to do is write the serial number so I can maintain activations of pre bought and installed software.

To READ the hardware serial number:
Open a CMD prompt.
Type wmic diskdrive get model,name,serialnumber

8364B VNA Repair

We have a problem with our VNA.  The screen is blank and the thing wont boot.

In the end it seems we have 2 possibly independant problems.
1.  The LCD back light is dead.
2.  The Hard Drive is corrupt.

USB BOOT
We do not know
a) Can the 8363B even boot from USB at the best of times.
b) Is our USB drive bootable?

LCD

The LCD appears blank.  But close inspection using the light on my phone shone from an angle shows information on the display.  So the LCD is OK but the back light is out.

I get a copy of the service manual from here.

Solution/Action: Replace the Inverter board with a board containing the new fuse (see photo). Original Fuse Daito is orange New Fuse KOA is black

I had read about this fuse elsewhere and now the above document confirms it is on the inverter board so it seems like a good thing to go looking at that board.

REMOVING THE FRONT PANEL

1.  Hang the front over the edge of the work bench.
2.  Remove the main measurement cables AND the 6 little SMA loop cables.

XP-ACTIVATION

We did a "restore to factory defaults" and this actually wont run.  Wont even boot.
Then used a USB-DVD drive and a XP disk to do a Recovery.
This necesitated using the key on the sticker on the side of the VNA.
That boots and runs and that's nice but XP now says it needs to be activated and that is a problem.

What are the options?
a) Try ACtivate on line

Jemma Birthday Licence

The build up began several weeks ago with me changing the spark plugs in the tiida.

SATURDAY
Jemma was at Megan's place and that culminated Saturday evening with a birthday dinner. I attended with a deep breath. Jemma came home to my place after.  I think that saved me from the usual depression that happens to me after such events.

SUNDAY began with the two of us separately doing bike rides.  Jemma met the Malcolm's at ATC and I did a short loop through Yeronga and over the Elanor schonell bridge. Coffee at Diva. Back home.  Spent about half an hour trying out my new weeding tool.

After showering and Jemma arriving home and doing likewise,  we set out for the first driving lesson.

I understood the aim she wanted for the day was to do some reverse parks and drive around Greenslopes.  We'd been invited by the Konings for brunch at Piggy Back Cafe at Jindalee for 10:30.  So we did some reverse parks in Corinda and headed over.

I had their Piggy Benny & coffee. It was nice to catch up with the Koning family.

After brunch we headed over the Greenslopes.  Drove around the back streets. After an hour and a half I called Frank Horky and we drove to their place.  This gave Jemma the chance to have a concentration break.

Then back to driving.  Jemma advised she wanted some experience driving in traffic.  So we drove along main roads.  Took a detour up Mt Gravatt.  Saw a Lamborghini. Yellow.

Back home.

Jemma went for a rest.

I cleaned out the car.
Shopped for dinner. We had mini buritos. Took the car through the drive through car wash.

MONDAY
Greensloped poo poo'd the Tiida. The tester advising the front tyres were bald on the edges.  Test aborted.  Jemma drove to school.

I set about obtaining new tyres.

TYRE RIGHT 07 3274 1233
185/65R15 88H
GT radiall $107 (Chinese) x2

Then dropped off and collected Ironing.

Then into work. Along the way called Dept of Transport.  The lady suggested a option tomorrow at Cleveland (or some place miles away) and then that this afternoon there was a space at Sherwood.  I sent Jemma a FB message and she emailed me back "yes" so we took that.

1:30 bailed early from the hardware meeting.
2:00 collected Jemma from school.
2:30 practice reverse park at the dead end of Peimrose St.
2:40 checked in.
2:50 she goes for the practical.
I go shopping.
While I'm doing that she texts to say "done"  "fail".
Bugger.
I feel sorry for her.

MONDAY EVENING
Jemma calls to say how about a retest Friday. I'm awaiting confirmation as I'll need to find a rowing sub.

Megan calls and it appeared Jemma had stayed up most of the night working on an assignment.

We discussed Jemma's driving.

Boys support group came to my place for dinner.  We had tacos.
1 kg meet.
One of the guys brought vegetarian salsa.

9 Days

Movie Review "9 days"
Art house film.
Saw it at Palace James St Valley.

Interesting concept.
Very very very slow.
No music in the sound track and I think this made it even slower.

A sort of God judging in reverse.

Although not explained,  it's like we are in heaven.  Some spiritual purgatory. A number of "people " have put themselves forward to selected to up to earth and be born and live a human life.

Happy Birthday to Chris

At work some cheese cakes.
In the evening Dinner at Megan's place.
We did video calls to Megan's parents and also Marcus.

Tiida Air Filter Box

The air filter box has vanished from the Tiida

On line. New. Malaysia RM80 which is about $AU25

I suspect "Free shipping" is only within Malaysia so add say $10 freight to Australia.

Tiida Spark Plugs and Oil

Finally got the spark plugs and oil changed.

The saga began weeks ago when I got sick of it losing power and "missing" when one accelerated. Esp if one was in the wrong gear and the revs were a bit slow.

After watching a few YouTube videos and establishing that to change the plugs one must dismantle half the engine,  I set about gathering stuff. Figured I'd need everything at hand as once I start,  no going and getting anything.

The other thing was I Figured that it could be a Coil pack. They had been the source of grief on the Ute.  $160 had bought a pack of 6 for the Ute so imagine my horror when I discovered genuine Nissan Coil packs were $200 each.  I ended up buying one non genuine one. My logic was that if it was a Coil pack then hopefully only one faulty one.

Oil and oil filter from Autobarn.  None of Autobarn, supercheap or Repco had Coil packs. Autobarn kindly directed me to A1 Auto parts at Waycol. They had Coil packs and spark plugs.

Poridge

It's the middle of the Brisbane winter. And what do you have in winter?
Porridge.
It's not really cold enough but we are in luck down so compromises are required.

AZ Vaccine #2

 Today had jab #2
7:30am
Lets see if we get a reaction.  Jab #1 reaction was almost 12hrs to the minute later.  resulted in a mild headache, unable to think straight.  Like a mild case of the flu.

HotDoc

Hi Frank,

Thank you for visiting for your COVID-19 Vaccination.

Even after receiving the vaccine, you must still follow public health precautions as required in your state or territory to stop the spread of COVID-19 including:
- Keep your distance – stay at least 1.5 metres away from other people
- Washing your hands often with soap and water, or use hand sanitiser
- Wear a mask, if your state or territory has advised you should
- Stay home if you are unwell with cold or flu-like symptoms and arrange to get a COVID-19 test.

As with any vaccine, some people may experience side effects such as a sore arm, headache or fever. These side effects are usually mild and don’t last for long, but please tell your healthcare provider if you have any side effects that worry you.

You may refer to the COVID-19 Vaccine Side Effect Checker for more information: https://www.healthdirect.gov.au/covid-19-vaccine-side-effect-checker

You can also directly report suspected side effects to NPS Medicinewise on 1300 134 237 or to TGA via this link: https://aems.tga.gov.au/

Best regards

Things on my mind are:

How much does the vaccine prevent transmission.  I am hearing that not much.  If that is true, then what does "herd immunity" mean.  Is
