Last Supper with Marcus and Soph

SUNDAY

The day started with coaching at Centenary.

We then all gathered at Dan's townhouse for a BBQ lunch.

"We" was Marcus & Soph, Chris, Dan of course, Jemma, Stephen, Harrison, Magnus and Lucy.

After lunch I took Magnus and Lucy back to Glenrich St then hightailed it out to Ripley for Rhianna's baby shower.

After celebrating the impending arrival of the new baby, We had last hugs, good-bys and photos.

The evening concluded with a dance lesson.  (And I forgot that there was Grammarians boat unload)

Fare thee well Marcus and Sophie

Gold Gold Gold

 Well Gold

and we ended up with a bronze but there was only three boats in the race so I don't think that really counts.

STATE MASTERS CHAMPIONSHIPS @ Wyaralong

I had 3 races on Saturday and none on Sunday.

The first race was a four stroked by

On the way to the start we did a couple of rate builds which were a bit ordinary.  Paul, who is a very experienced rower raised that we should moderate the rate and that turned out to be an excellent statement.  He said to Peter in the bow seat that his one job was to steer a straight course.  Good advise that Peter implemented and in a later race, I was not able to.  The race started and Paul set a controlled rate, the boat sat up, Peter steered straight and that set the platform for us to get the power on.  It did not take long for my lack of fitness to be felt but things were going well and the rhythm helped me focus on keeping the power on.  By the time we crossed the finish line I was totally exhausted.  It was a good, a really good feeling.

ANZAC DAY On River

Today I attended the on water rowing ANZAC day service.

We boated at West end and rowed up to Yeronga.  The service was conducted from the Somerville  pontoon.

It was nice to see people I knew - a quad of masters from Centenary rowing a boat borrowed from the Vikings and a quad of Brigidine girls.  Jemma was there too bobbing around in  a tinnie.

I find these services very moving. I've never been to war so have no understanding of the challenges and horrors that the service personnel experienced. These services do put me in a reflective mindset. The phrase "Lest We Forget" is a great reminder that the freedom we have today is because of the actions of the service personnel in the past.

Adding an extra battery to Chris's DMax

 Charger is Kings 25A  https://au.adventurekings.com/kings-25a-dcdc-charger.html

This includes:
Regulation control for both a Lithium AND a Lead Acid battery and
A solar MPPT (Maximum Power Point Transfer) charger. and
Operates with either a standard or a smart alternator.

Does the  DMax have a A SMART alternator?
This web site says 'Yes'
This web site says look for a shunt.

FUSES
Kings recommend 50A fuses.

The MPT charger is not required because the Kings 25A has a MPT built in

Shows a shunt which seems to confirm that it is a smart alternator

REMOVE GLOVE BOX
Pull in from the middle.  Needs two hands.

Remove 4 screws

I pushed a screwdriver through the grommet.

The corrugated tube is the factory wiring harness.  The black single wire is the CB antenna wire.

This is a plastic nut not a push on pull off thing.

The covers are only held down on the outside.

I taped the wires to a coat hanger and gently pushed it from the front door area to the back door area.

25mm Hole saw.

Grind off the burrs with a sand paper wheel on a Dremmel

This grommet came from Bunnings but has very little overlap so it pulls out really easily.

Fencing Lucy - Roller

Lucy has been jumping the fence.

This is the second version of the roller.
It is 65mm pressure pipe.  The wheels are from a cheap kids skateboard from K-Mart

Easter Sunday

 SUNDAY 9-4-2023

Slept on the couch in the hut.  Lucy slept on a bean bag.  The fire in the slow combustion stove made the room very warm.

Got up and left just before 5.

A good coffee from macas on the Stanthorpe bypass.  Another coffee at Maccas in Warwick.  This time not so nice.  Maybe too much coffee in too short a time.

On towards work.  Phonecall from Lewis and then one from Chris.  Chris is going to drive up and join them in Stanthorpe.

At work trying to work out how to get a PIR movement sensor to work at 24V.

Then to read some resume's

Easter Saturday

 SAT 8 APRIL 2023

I'd fallen asleep on the couch last night thus confirming my slightly off axis social skills. In retrospect accelerated by 3 glasses of wine.

Slept OK on the couch in the hut.

Now sitting at the table on the back verandah reading "the Berlin diaries" page 209.
It's a beautiful sunny morning. A light cool breeze. I'm wearing shorts and a tee shirt.  Everyone else is asleep.

Although surrounded by good friends, feel lonely. Wish for someone special. Deep breath. Get used to the idea of being single (=alone) for the rest of my life.

Another coffee I think.

Rest and a biscuit part way up.  Interestingly I declined a sweet biscuit.  I feel way over sugared.

7 Lunch at the top was almost BYO.  Cybele had brought pre cooked Frankfurters which are not my thing.  I had brought a peanut butter and jam sandwich and a honey sandwich which I gave to Dan.

Other food included a banana and a block of old gold chocolate which I shared.

Asked Dan to snap a couple of pics of me.

In the evening, the team practiced a hymn to sing on Sunday at the 8:30 am Anglican service.
