WEDNESDAY 27 DECEMBER 2023

I've had no internet and that's been strange. Like getting over an addiction.

Today we got up at 4:30 to see the sunrise. Unfortunately it was masked by clouds.
Then bought coffee.

Back home and said Hi to Greg and Margaret.

Walked to beach for a refreshing swim.

Back home. Shower, dry clothes, cleaned room, packed.

Walked to bus and took bus to Dunwich. Took sea link back to Brisbane. A long walk to the car.

BOXING DAY 26-12-2023

BOXING DAY 26-12-2023
Slept in.

Phoebe and I walked up the street and bought coffee. Walked the point lookout gorge  board walk.

Looking into the gorge we thought we saw two big clumps of seaweed but as they joined up we realised they were fish. Several sharks were having a field day. We saw one turtle using the fish as a distraction and made a break for it.

Breakfast in the back yard sausage and poached egg mc muffins. Without the mc. The patties were made by Amy squishing the innards out of sausages. Margaret made poached eggs.

More coffee.

Sat around. More coffee.  Watched goannas.

Drove to deadmans Beach and walked to mermaid pools at Frenchman's Beach. Sat in them and chilled.

Beautiful cold watermelon coffee.

Phoebe made us Ham and Lettuce sandwichs for lunch.

Snooze

Walked up shop and bought gelato. Frank had tirumasu and boysenberry+ and Phoebe had bischof. Walked across the road. It was hot and the stuff melted and ran all over my hand. The wind blew droplets off melted ice cream away. I ended up with a blob in my hand. Luckily there was a tap at hand and I washed half way up my arms as well as my sunnies.

Main Beach signed as closed. Took bus to cylinder Beach. The key task was to wash the ice cream off my hat in the waves. Lovely swim.

We walked back. Showered off the sand and salt.

drive home

A relaxed start. Dan had to visit the motor bike shop so no point in leaving too early.

Cereal, toast and coffee with Henry. Then he and I did seat selection.

Dan had sub par service from the motor bike shop who did not seem interested in helping. Just book in for a us to look at when we get round to it. This means he is riding with tape on the tank and some kind of speed restriction.

Met up with Dan just south of Newcastle. Chris, Jemma and I had a swim.

The Tesla route planning is a bit frustrating. ABRP is better.  Tesla would not let us navigate to the Heatherbrae supercharger. It said reduced functionality. Later we discover only 5 units apparently working but I've no idea how you decide which one.

At 6pm we are between Newcastle and Port Macquarie. We need a small charge at Port Macquarie to reach Coffs.

THRUMASTER
CCS2 Charger. & Gumez and Gomez lamb burrito bowl.
At 79% charging cut short even though I had set max change to 100% filled in a report in the charge fox app.
$19.43.
21minutes
32.45kwh
It started at about 800km/h but it slowed to 600km/h and I think it slowed to 300km/h and then eventually terminated early.

8:10pm 67% 286km

Sunday Dinner

I call this Henry's Chrismas dinner which as I see it is the Canberrians coming together for Christmas get together.

Earlier in the day Chris, Dan and I had started investigating Dan's bike issues.  This necessitated a trip to Fishwick Supercheap and Bunnings.  Initially went to supecheap but their cheapest socket set was about $40.  Checked the Bunnings web site and were sucked in by a $10 set which, when we got there, zero stock so spent $20 on a small metric set.

I dropped Chris and Dan at Henry's place and went food shopping.  I was glad I did because they would have gooten very bored and frustrated as it took forever.

Dickson has a new Coles with an underground car park which is $2 for two hours or spend $20 in store for free parking.  Bought:
Wombok, green onion? (long green stuff like shallotts), Fried noodles, Changs sauce, green apples for chris, Kiwi fruit for the pavlova.  I then went looking for quiches for lunch.  Coles had little 200g ones at $10 each.  Seemed odd.  Checked the woolies app and they have family sized ones for $14.  Paid and validated my parking and then over to woolies to get the quiches.

Back to Henry's and a swim while we waited for the quiches to cook.

The dinner we had driven to partake in - Sunday evening
Michael, Ian, Peter, Zoe & Ben?,
Lewis and Clare and they were looking after Tristan.
Henry (of course)
Frank, Chris, Dan & Jemma
There were others there however I will need to research names and relationships.

MOTORBIKE ISSUES

On the way down Dan had established a few issues with his bike.
Fairing had come loose and he had dropped into a town and gotten some cable ties.
There was a fuel acceleration issue where the bike would not reach full power.
Finally one could see liquid and we established it was coolant.  Initially I did not realise that the coolant bottle was not pressurised but it was later established by Chris and Dan that there was a tiny crack.  As a temporary measure this has been covered by tape but on Monday morning, Dan will be going to the motor bike shop for help with the acceleration problem and to try and buy a new coolant bottle.
