CISTERN
The Cistern is a huge underground water storage.  Built to supply water if the city was under siege.  These huge water storage cisterns seem to be a feature of ancient Turkiye.

Scary gargoil like creature.  There was suggestion that this was reused from a theatre.
I am amazed that such detail would be carved into stone that would not be seen by many.

The curators have done a great job with lighting.  at one point it went out and then slowly came on.  Very ere in the dark.

The whole place is chilly cold.

James VS
More intriguing engraving in what would normally be under water.

I think the fat bottoms are concrete from an earlier restoration effort.
