2018 GPS Head Of the River

A couple of days ago we were advised that the government had activated a wet weather plan for Wyaralong.  The main effect of this was to not allow on site parking.  Bizarre given the main carpark is paved and anyone with a 2WD has had to park there for the last two weeks.  The conspiracy theorists would believe that someone in the middle echelons of SEQ Water does not like rowing.  The effect of this was I had to take the bus.

THE RACE
A very tense ending to a really tough season.

As the boys passed the headland 01:56 they were neck and neck with BBC.  Sprinting for the finish 02:20 they seemed to be rowing better and pulling away. At the finish 02:40 the commentator says "Brisbane Grammar by just over a canvas". So I go to meet them at the waters edge and they arrive like someone had died. Unbeknownst to me, in the last few strokes one of our guys caught a crab. They recovered and had a last sprint and managed to cross the line in front. However they thought they had lost. Luckily there were others at the bank to reassure them and later we saw on line that they had beaten BBC by 0.8 seconds!. Well done boys.
