Boat light

One our boat lights has a problem.  Looks like some water has gotten in and a battery or two have leaked.

On closer inspection the O'ring is hard and brittle.
There is some silastic on the thing although it does not look like it has stuck to the base.  It does seem to have stuck to the cover.  A couple of the batteries have leaked.  Not sure if that was electrolysis or a combination of electrolysis and water.  Mind you there is no water at all inside.  It was completely dry when I opened it.

There is a sachet of silica gel under the PCB.  I bet its done its job and more.

The PCB seems fine It has a thin layer of conformal coat - Now that's good manufacturing.

CLEAN UP
Started with the cover.
We need to work out what will remove the rusty colouring.
Removed the O-Ring which is hard and brittle and obviously not suitable for reuse.
Soaked in warm soapy water

More to come
