Berlin Wall - East Side Gallery

(I will move this to the start of the blog when we were in Berlin ~July 2010

In 1976 the East German's began to install a new 3.6m high wall type.  1976 - I was starting grade 8.  It's not that long ago.  Hang on, yes it is.  Anyway the western side of the wall was often painted.  I guess that was an example where grafitti was seen to, now at least, be politically correct.

There is not much of the berlin wall left. When the wall came down in 1989 (We thought we were pretty modern in 1989 yet it was only then it came down).

We hired bicycles from Potsdamer platz and rode (no helmets note) to this segment of wall.  This segment known as the East Side Gallery was painted after the wall came down in 1989.
