Chris's Boat

Chris is making a balsa wood boat.  The project was initiated at Boys Brigade but he has done the lions share of the work at home.  Although he has received some advise from Grandpa and myself, he has done the vast majority of the work.

The engine and radio control system was harvested from the old yellow plane.  The hardest bit (from my perspective) was making the mounting for the motor.  The motor needs to be on an angle and lined up with the propeller shaft.  Chris ended up carving the mount out of balsa.  The angle was guessed.  A flexible coupling made of glue lined heatshrink tubing connects the motor to the prop shaft.  Hopefully the flex in the heatshrink will take care of any misalignment.
