Eileens Ashes Internment

Today we had a small service commemorating mum's life and the attachment of plaques for Mum and Dad at Toowong cemetery.

The day started looking for Lucy.

Chris,  Henry and I left early and went via Corinda hardware in search of round or pan head brass wood screws. These seem very hard to get.

Arrived early at Toowong cemetery to install Dad's plaque.  Discovered screw holes were placed such that it was nowhere near straight. Used one screw and some GAF.

Megan began with playing & singing.

It was a beautiful sunny day.

David Thomas officiated. Henry had put together a order of service booklet.  Each of us read a few words. There was a bowl with water in it that David blessed and then we used gum branch to dip in and flick the water onto the headstones.

We also blessed the plaque that was to be installed at the cathedral.

The service concluded with the singing of hymn XYZ.  Jemma on ? accompanied Megan in playing.

After the service was complete Megan produced morning tea which was very kind of her.

Symbolism of water -
Chris asked the significance of thr water. I was at a loss to give a prepackaged answer.

water symbolises life and cleansing.

Blessings makes it "holy".
