Autorotation is what you do in a helicopter when the engine fails.
Collective down. Lots of right pedal. Back on the cyclic.
Then very gently adjust the cyclic to get 55knts speed and rotor RPM in the green.
Look for a landing site - Oh how convienient, there is an airfield right below us.
50ft, start to ease back on the cyclic - This is a flair.
Then just before you loose forward momentum and you are pretty much stopped, Forward on the cyclic and skid on to the ground.
Scary stuff. Have not managed it yet. The instructor keeps having to take over
