Came home yesterday to the news that enerjex had decided to cut the power at Centenary.
Bizarre!
Nicky swung into action on the phone and St Peters & Stuartholme schools, both who row at Toowong, came to the rescue offering boats and tinnies.
To me a wonderful show of support. I love my boat with a set of sommerville oars and a set of St Peters oars.
These photos are a bit biased because this was the crew I was coaching and they got on the water pretty quickly. In fact too quickly because I was supposed to be launching... But anyway we were away. We rowed upstream under the Elanor Schonell bridge. Around the corner and did a u turn just before sommerville. The kids had to be much more careful to keep to the correct side of the river. There is no traffic at Centenary and the kids do not understand wash or other tinnies and so on.
In the end a great afternoon and personally I would like to thank Nicky for the huge effort she has put in. What a really hard season.
Video Analysis (For my coach re-accreditation)
(They have done very little practice because of floods and covid.)
Bow - Too deep. Shoulder lift. Harbour bridge & ripping in with arms at the finish. Later we did an exercise where we rowed in pairs with the rowing pair having to watch their blades and only half submerge them.
2 - Washing out at the finish. Doing OK with legs driving at the catch.
3 - looking around.
4- Doing OK with leg drive and keeping back forward at the start. Pause at the finish. They are supposed to be doing in down and out style. Rush up slide.
Cox was inexperienced. Over steering and had to be directed.
All: Blades running on water. Timing is very rough.
