Thursday - Fort wall

The day got going very very slowly. I think everyone is all touristed out. The appartment is only 1 bed room. Megan and I in that. Dan & Jemma in the lounge.

I put "cafe" into Google maps. The earliest seemed to open at 8am so I couldn't go and have an early hot chocolate.

Finally around 1pm we managed to venture out. A short walk to the old city. We saw a part of the old defensive wall.

A door in the wall revealed a old lady who took €2/adult €1.50/student. Very good value imo. We climbed steps and marveled at medieval defenses.  Google informed us the middle ages was a thousand years from 500AD.


This is part of the wall. The door we entered is right down the bottom in the distance.   This is the inside part that the soldiers protected.  The bad guys would have been on the other side of the wall.

Most of the time the lights were off.  Maybe we missed pushing a button.  It was black as'.  Luckily we had phones with lights and that helped.  This pic taken with flash.
