Thursday - Utrecht to Tallinn

3:20 am rise and hmm.  Wake up kids.  Finish packing.   Last night I had taken my suitcase down to the lounge.  One less flight of stairs in the morning.  Amazingly at 4:14 we were all out on the footpath awaiting the arrival of the taxi that I had booked yesterday.

Received a phone-call from the driver and a moment later he arrived.  Um err it's just a guy in a car.  Not even an Uber with all it's in built safety & vetting.  So we get in and for a fixed fee of €55 we travel all the way to Schiphol.  At times a bit concerned about speed esp the last bit up and down ramps signed at 30kmh and I am sure we were at least twice that.  Anyway, arrived in one piece.  Terminal 1.

Inside after some investigation discovered we needed 1a.  Quite a long walk.  Checked in at the consoles and then did the bag drop.  Before we knew it and more importantly before we had emptied our water bottles we were at security surrendering our water bottles.  Only Jemma had been insightful enough to empty hers.  Megan seemed a bit miffed that hers had been confiscated.  I was mildly annoyed with myself.  There you go.

The flight had a 45 minute stop over in Munich.  The first leg was Lufthansa in a Airbus of some-kind.   The second leg was with Nordica / Lot (Polish).  I was a bot skeptical when we were directed down the aerobridge with plane at the end of it. There was a bus full of people.  Dark with no interior lights.  I figured they were just setting our expectations low.  Maybe we were driving to Estonia because the plane didn't really exist.

The plane turned out to be a narrow body jet like a DC9 size with a 3+3 seating arrangement.  I got an exit row and the extra leg room was very welcome.  The seats hardly tipped back.  No food.  Only a coffee or water.  One could buy soft drink.

Arrived Tallinn.  I vote it best airport.  There were gym gear in the departure lounge.  Further along there were two guys bashing out a friendly tune on a piano.  We noted the bright coloured seats and a children's playground and a big sign advertising water.

Dropped into the info desk and then a kiosk.  Bought a snack.  I had a sort of pastry and Curd thing.  Like a custard scroll.  Tasted ... well like a custard scroll.

The kiosk lady explained that for €8 we could get a public transport pass that  gives unlimited public transport for 5 days.  Bought 4 of them.

€8 for a taxi into town to our accommodation.  A real taxi this time.

Booked into our room.  Went for a walk round the block.  Visited shopping mall and bought brakfast stuff and I bought a pair of boots.  Fake leather for €50.

Now at 6:15pm everyone else is sleeping.
